Decadent Spinach Flan
The Decadent Spinach Flan a quick and easy to make light meal. The McCain Classics Chopped Spinach available from Frozen Foods Factory Shop is used in this recipe.
Serves 6 to 8
- 150g Butter
- 150g Flour
- 125g Mature Cheddar Cheese (grated)
- Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
- 500g McCain Classics Chopped Spinach
- 2 Cloves garlic finely grated
- 3ml Ground Nutmeg
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 250g Low Fat Cream Cheese
- 250ml Milk
- 45 ml Flour
- 4 Jumbo eggs
Rub the butter into the flour until it resembles fine bread crumbs. Stir in the cheese and Cayenne pepper. Push mixture into a 30cm loose bottom flan ring and set aside.
Place cooked McCain Classics Chopped Spinach in a mixing bowl and add the garlic and nutmeg and season with salt and black pepper.
Mash the cream cheese into the McCain Classics Chopped Spinach and mix in the milk / cream.
Beat together the extra flour and eggs and whisk into the spinach mixture.
Place the flan ring onto a large baking sheet and pour the spinach mixture into the crust.
Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C for 30-35 minutes or until the filling is warm but still soft. Cool down for 10 minutes, remove the flan ring and serve.
